A Safe Place (Caring Well Sunday) (8.25.19) (Matthew 18:1-6, Isaiah 1:16-17, Galatians 6:1-2, Acts 20:28-31)
Pastor Bryan Dugger, August 25, 2019Part of the Stand Alone Sermons series, preached at a Sunday Morning service
The Southern Baptist Convention is facing an abuse crisis. That's why Westview Baptist Church is committed to participating in the "Caring Well" Challenge, an initiative focused on making every Southern Baptist church a safe place for abuse victims. This sermon was given in order to make the church aware of the need of such an initiative and of our plans to specifically make Westview a safe place for broken and hurting people. More information about the "Caring Well" Challenge can be found on https://caringwell.com/.

Matthew 18:1-6
1At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven? 2And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them, 3And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. 4Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven. 5And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me. 6But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea. (KJV)
Isaiah 1:16-17
16Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil; 17Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow. (KJV)
Galatians 6:1-2
1Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. 2Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. (KJV)
Acts 20:28-31
28Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. 29For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. 30Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them. 31Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears. (KJV)
